Fedor Emelianko and Anderson Silva, both very well rounded and what I believe are two of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. They also are very smart, a lot of heart and that’s why I look up to them.

How did you get started in MMA?
I played hockey my whole life and I loved the brawling part of the game. I’m not like most other fighters who were brought up on the street or loved to fight on the street, bar, etc. In fact I have never been in a street fight in my life. So I gave up hockey and started training, after about a year I moved to London Ontario and trained there at Team Tompkins. Once I got there I was training with some of the best in Canada. I learned alot and just enjoyed it ever since.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small town Brandon, Manitoba in Canada. At the age of 4 my parents divorced and life was confusing for me. My family was not very well off but loved me to death and would do anything for me, if I owe anyone anything it would be my parents. At a young age my mom was with someone else when this happened who was very violent and abusive towards me, I was moving back and forth between my mom and dad not knowing where I belong, at that time I decided to move with my mom to London, Ontario, which is where I started to really get into MMA and fell in love with the sport.

Who influenced your life?
My brother always told me if i want to chase my dream I can’t do it by sitting around doing nothing. He has pushed me and made me realize no matter how hard life is at the time you got to try harder and don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot make it.

What other things have influenced your life?
My family and friends and sports for keeping me out of trouble and always pushing me for what i want in life. A lot of my coaches influenced me as well making me realize everything in life you want is not easy you have to work hard for it.

What is your goal for your career and life?
My goal in life is to keep doing what I love to do until I am able to no more and as long as there’s bread in my basket and fuel in my car that’s all I can ask for. Maybe one day open my own gym and start a family but for now I love what I am doing.

What is your training regimen and who do you train with?
Usually my training regimen is up to my coach and depending on what style and who my next opponent is. I train 6 days a week, two times a day as intense as I can. On my days off I still do cardio and conditioning. I train a lot with my hands back at home at the boxing gym. What I like to do is train in my hometown for a bit than 3-4 weeks prior to my fight go train out with our team, Team Denarius out west and I also head off to London, Ontario and train with some of the best 155lb’ers in Canada. I love to train and I love to travel so its good.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I really pride myself in my stand up it has came a long way and I love to stand and bang. My weakness? I would love to say I got no holes in my game but obviously can’t say that but I would have to say my jui jitsu and groundwork. Which is a big part of a lot of guys game nowadays especially down in the States. I definitely love to keep it standing.
